"Eurasian Sustainable Urban Development" international conference

 On April 5-6, 2006，" Eurasian Sustainable Urban Development " international conference was grandly held in Chongqing. It has attracted experts, scholars and representatives from eight universities in Britain, Denmark, Portugal, Netherlands, Japan, Hong Kong and the mainland, leaders of Science and Technology Division in the Ministry of Construction, heads of Chongqing Science and Technology Commission, and representatives of well-known enterprises in the construction field. There were more than 170 people attending the conference including 50 experts and 20 foreigners.

 At the opening ceremony of the conference, the leaders from Ministry of Construction and Chongqing Science and Technology commission delivered speeches and expressed their congratulations to the successful holding of the conference. The main content of this conference is about the issues of urban development, including sustainable building design and construction, urban water resources and solid waste management, information exchange and education, and green building strategy, were discussed in detail in this conference; and remarkable achievements have been made in sustainable building design and construction, urban water resources and solid waste management, information exchange and education, and green building. During the meeting, some experts successively came to our school to give lectures. The chairman of Royal Chartered Institute of Building Equipment Engineers signed a cooperation agreement with the university press. And experts from various countries invited our teachers and graduates for cooperation in academic researches and exchanges. In addition, our university conducted related exchanges and cooperation with the university of Hong Kong and other famous universities in China. On April 7, Professor Li Baizhan, the President of the conference, held the " Wrap-up Conference Of The Seminar". So far, “Eurasian Sustainable Urban Development” international seminar has achieved great success.

This conference would build a bridge of communication and cooperation for global sustainable urban development, thus promoting the implementation of "Habitat Agenda" and "Agenda 21" actively, and enhancing exchanges and cooperation in the field of sustainable development around the world, which would have a positive impact on the sustainable development strategy being implemented currently in China. In addition, by providing a learning opportunity for teachers and students of related majors in Chongqing university, it would play an important role in enhancing their scientific research abilities and in cultivating innovative talents with an international perspective.
